A concierge is that person you see running around like a chicken with their head cut off, making sure every single detail is perfect! We prefer to have at least 15 of those chickens!
You do not have to be available on both days and you do not have to be there the full time on both days. You tell us when you are available and we will fit you in. Your help is very important to a successful world-class event! (Being there as agreed is essential!)
There may be a meeting that includes training before rehearsal day to make sure everyone knows what is expected and how to do the needed tasks. Nothing is difficult, but cooperation and communication are key. If you cannot lift over 10 pounds, please advise us and we will have you work on something without weight to lift.
Our goal is to put on a world-class event!
Set up. Clean up. Unpacking. Packing. Check in. List review. Guiding guests. Seating. Snack set up. Sign set up. Sign break down. There is a lot of set up and take down and clean up. You must be able to follow the leader and take direction. You must also be able to solve issues quickly or get someone that can, also quickly.
We want things to run smoothly for our world-class event!
Rehearsal day is the day before the big event. Our speakers and performers do their final versions of what they will present the next day. It's the day we get everything ready to go! We start after the Luminaries Lunch and we end once the work is done (usually before the rehearsals are done) and everything is packed or arranged for the next day. Typical hours have been 3:00 pm to 6:00 pm in the past. Those hours may be different this year. We will give you assignments based on the days and hours you are available and based on our needs.
We do everything necessary to put on a world-class event. From all setups, cleanup, greeting, assisting, giving out goodie bags, registering the guests as attending, and so much more, we are the backbone of the event. We are not done until everything is back at our office. Typical hours are 8 am to 4 pm on event day.
Our Operations Manager, Robin Richter, oversees the Concierge Team, with Ashley Valverde as the Concierge Team Captain on rehearsal and event day.
Our goal from beginning to end is to have a world-class event and to be able to say we did our best to make that happen.
We have had previous speakers and coaches, as well as those that wish to become one or the other, volunteer as a concierge. Does being a concierge get you "brownie points" when you apply for either? No, but it does give you insight into each position.
